# What DeFi Missed

## Capital is only part of the story.

DeFi brought finance on-chain.

Anyone can deposit assets,\
use Lending,\
and provide liquidity.

But while DeFi recorded financial activity, it rarely recorded the people behind that activity.

<Info>
  DeFi measures capital.\
  It rarely measures participation.

## DeFi Measures Capital Well

TVL, deposits, loan volume, trading volume.

Most DeFi protocols measure the movement of capital with remarkable precision.

That is why DeFi has grown into one of the largest financial markets in Web3.

This is not something RocX rejects. It is the foundation RocX wants to build on.

***

## But Activity Does Not Stay

Users spend time using protocols, joining communities, and participating across ecosystems.

Yet much of that activity loses value when the user leaves the protocol where it happened.

Experience, participation, trust, and contribution often fail to become long-term financial context.

DeFi showed the flow of capital. What remains harder to see is the activity of the people behind that flow.

## The Next Layer Is Needed

RocX is not trying to replace DeFi.

RocX believes DeFi needs a new layer that connects user activity to financial experience.

That layer should recognize activity, turn activity into value, and connect it to better financial outcomes.

RocX calls this new layer **Proof of Activity**.

  **DeFi changed finance.**

The next step is recognizing the people behind it.
